As one of the oldest country clubs in the United States, The Rockaway Hunting Club has always been at the forefront of the American sports scene.
In its early days, Rockaway hosted sporting events such as fox hunting, polo and steeplechase. In the late 1800’s American sporting interests began to change, with golf and racquet sports emerging as the preferred recreational activities for the New York City elite. Rockaway built some of the finest facilities to accommodate these changing tastes.
Today, The Rockaway Hunting Club is home to 25 tennis courts and a historic seaside golf course.
